Resident Evil (Biohazard for some countries) is a popular horror game franchise going back to the days of the first ever Sony Playstation. In my opinion, it really set the standard of what a horror game should really be like. Trying to survive in a mansion full of zombies with nothing but a handgun, limited bullets, and a knife. The gameplay made use of tension and jump scares, keeping players on their toes always. The sheer desperation of trying to find a roll of ink hidden somewhere just so that you can save your progress was not only a horrible idea but also added to the feeling that your life was in the balance. The most recent iteration of this franchise is Resident Evil 7, which goes back to its roots after a couple of games that steered away from the horror genre a bit. This time, though, a couple of things have been added to enhance the horror experience; it’s now in first-person and supports the Playstation VR headset. If that isn’t scary I don’t know what is!
We’re not here to talk about the gameplay, though. We’re here to have a look at the logo. Below is a version I’ve whipped up. Have a look at it and try and see what they’ve done.
Great thinking Capcom! Don’t know how long you’ve waited to put this on the title but I’m glad you did. It’s a great example of how shapes and messages can be hidden within a brand name. You might not think this is all that, but wait! There’s more! I mentioned previously that it’s called “Biohazard” in some countries. Well, look at the image below.
They’ve implemented the number ‘7’ in the letter ‘Z’! 10 points for consistency! #mindblown. I like it when people use their brain. It’s not much but it gets me excited. I’ve seen some great videos of this game, and though I will never in all of my life play it (I’m too scared), I trust the reviews.
